Broadway Theatre Connection was originally created to forge a direct relationship between professional New York City Theatre Artists and the Greater New Orleans Theatre Community. BTC currently offers Workshops and Master Classes in multiple cities throughout the United States providing opportunities for education, mentorship and intensive training. We connect Broadway performers, choreographers, directors, casting directors, voice coaches and agents to students with a passion for developing their musical theatre skills.
Jessica Hartman and Jason Lacayo are Louisiana natives that have gone on to exciting careers in the theatre and arts industry. BTC was born out of the desire to give back to the community that was the springboard for their success. They are thrilled at the success of Broadway Theatre Connection and the ability to offer this caliber of training in multiple cities across America.
Jessica has had the honor of working with some of the best directors, choreographers, and stars of the Broadway world such as Liza Minnelli, Gregory Hines, Donna McKechnie and Jerry Herman to name a few. Some of her choreography credits include The Boy From Oz on Broadway starring Hugh Jackman (Associate Choreographer/Dance Captain/Swing) where she also served as Hugh’s Dance Coach, Lysistrata Jones on Broadway (Associate Choreographer), Showtune Off-Broadway (Assistant Director and Choreographer to Joey McKneely), as well as working with Tony nominated Broadway Choreographer, Dan Knechtges on Broadway, Off-Broadway, in Berlin, and around the country.

Upon graduating from SMU, Jason relocated to Los Angeles where he decided to utilize his dancing to access other opportunities in theater and the entertainment industry. As a result of that decision, he performed in National tours, feature films, television, regional theatre, dance theatre, commercials, music videos, industrials, commercial print, with multiple opera companies and on Broadway. A note from Jessica
Dear Broadway Theatre Connection Families,
We know you have questions about BTC NOLA 2020 and our tenth anniversary season, and so do we. During these uncertain times surrounding the Covid-19 outbreak, it is difficult to make plans for the next few weeks, let alone the next few months.
While our staff and faculty are ready to return to New Orleans (and we know the same is true for our young artists) we will not hold BTC NOLA 2020 when it can not be operated safely and with the quality you’ve come to expect. Our Broadway faculty members fly from NYC and stay in hotels, teaching in rooms with 80+ students. Everywhere we turn, there are obstacles caused by our “new normal” during this pandemic.
Realizing that parents will need to make summer plans for their children, we wanted to communicate that information to you as soon as we could. NOCCA put a halt on summer rentals, and while we researched other great facilities, we ultimately decided there were too many factors that just do not add up to our program giving the unique, professional experience we pride ourselves on. Musical theatre in masks? Taking 80 students’ temperature daily so we can keep them safe and healthy? Theatre is a community. We share space, sing together, dance together, laugh and hug and create. We will do that again together when it is safe. We have updated our refund/cancellation policy, and students who are signed up can request a refund or can have their registration transfer to next year. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions to .
Our hearts are broken to not be in the studios with you this summer, but if artists are anything, we are resilient. We will keep training and creating and we will all be together again with Broadway’s best in New Orleans for BTC 2021.
